Detox Recipes for Great Skin
We all know that impurities and toxins are a major challenge to those of us seeking better skin. Pollution, chemicals, and artificial food additives all leave their traces on our bodies, and in their most visible form on our skin. Fortunately, the right detox recipe can assist the body in flushing out the impurities we collect as a part of everyday life.
Detox recipes have been used for years by holistic practitioners, therapists, physical trainers, doctors and others, in the course of such difficult processes as injury recovery and inpatient drug detox. However, a good detox recipe can also be used to leave us with healthy, glowing skin.
A raw diet is the most basic, and probably the oldest of all detoxifying diets. From the days of humans living in caves, natural, raw foods like fruits, nuts vegetables and legumes have been eaten raw. Only in recent years has their power to detox the body and brighten the skin become clear.
A slightly less raw, but considerably more fun option is the fruit smoothie. Fruit smoothies are easy to make, and provide a wide variety of flavors. Simply pick your personal favorite combination of fresh fruits, add some form of dairy product or a substitute like soy milk or honey for thickness and flavor, and finally add ice. Blend to a thick, smooth consistency. The vitamins, minerals and antioxidants will do wonders for your skin.
The most extreme option would be a juice or water fast. These are controversial, and you should definitely consult your doctor before engaging in any such extreme change of diet. Still, many people swear by the detoxifying abilities of these spartan fasts, and the clarity of skin which they are said to bring.
Which detox recipe you choose is up to you, but remember that your skin is merely an outward reflection of what you put in your body. Get those toxins out, and your skin can be clear and beautiful!
