Juicing – The first weight loss Magic Pill
My basic juice blend is 3 large carrots, 2 sticks of celery, 1 apple, half a lemon and about a 2cm piece of ginger and this makes atleast 750ml of juice which I drink daily. You can also use beetroot, spinach, silverbeet, cucumber and other fruits and veggies in your blends and each blend has it’s own therapeutic qualities.
The weight started coming off right away almost to the tune of 1kg a week. I know this because I kept a weight and food diary so I could see more easily how this magic pill was working. This was all just before Christmas last year and by Christmas, (about 3 weeks from starting juicing), I had lost 3.3kg all up which was phenomenal after over 10 years of steady weight increase. Of course Christmas came and I put it all back on but the seed of juicing was sown and the evidence was irrefutable for me.
After Christmas, I got straight back into juicing and within 2 weeks, all the Christmas weight was gone. It’s pretty amazing when you see such losses on the scales and in such quick time.
If you want to know what I was eating other than the juice at breakfast, morning tea was often fruit and some nuts, lunch could be a big salad or sandwich, more fruit and nuts for afternoon tea and then cooked veggies and salad at dinner during the week but the weekends often contained a few more comfort foods, toast, treats and meat. My diet was mainly sugar free. I had pretty much given up sugar about 7 months before this time but it had had little effect on my weight loss though a sugar free lifestyle is of paramount importance to losing weight but that is another blog.
